At a scale of 1:64, these models replicate real-life agricultural machinery in incredible detail, showcasing the innovation and engineering behind farming equipment. Manufacturers such as Ertl, Daltons Farm Toys, Wyatts Custom Farm Toys, and more meticulously recreate every aspect, from the wheels and cabs to the minute mechanisms, delivering a realistic portrayal of their larger counterparts. The allure of 1:64 scale farm equipment lies not only in their accurate representation but also in their versatility. These replicas serve as educational tools, allowing enthusiasts of all ages to learn about the various functions and operations of agricultural machinery.

Learning ratios

The scale size model is a fraction of the real life one. For example, a 1:64 scale model Ertl John Deere Tractor is 1/64th the size of a real John Deere tractor, or about 4 times smaller than 1:16 scale toy tractors. The number on the left side of a ratio represents the size of the model, while the number on the right-hand side represents how many times bigger the original object (what it is modeled after) is. In some models, gauge may be used instead of scale, but that is mainly used when discussing train sets. Ratios are also widely used when discussing action figures. Below are examples of different ratios and their purpose:

  • 1:12 scale – Large, detailed models which are about 14-15 inches (36-38 cm) in length and are more expensive than 1:18 models. These types are mainly targeted at collectors.
  • 1:18 scale – Highly detailed and usually 8-11 inches (18-25 cm) long. These are primarily found and made in the U.S.
  • 1:32 scale – Usually 6 inches (10-15 cm) in length and are most commonly used for tractor and vehicle models at an intermediate size, used widely by Ertl.
  • 1:43 scale – Can range from 3.93 - 5.11 inches (10-13 cm) in length. Most popular model used for model cars on an international scale.
  • 1:64 scale – Approximately 2.8 inches (7-10 cm) in length and again, popular for farm and agricultural machinery products.

These are important since they can vary in scale size, you want to make sure that you are either A. Getting similar size models in a collection or B. Ensuring that you have enough room to house those models. If you are buying toys that you must put together, models with a larger scale size are generally easier to piece together.

Whether you are looking for your child's next favorite farm toy or wanting a collector's item, having the knowledge of understanding scale size will be beneficial when looking for accessories to fit the mold of toys they already have. These ratios may seem confusing at first, but they translate across a multitude of platforms for toys, even for cars, robots, spacecrafts and action figures. Ignite your child's imagination with these smaller scaled toys that are offered across many brands, which can also be found on Agzaga.com!
